Westland Distillery Wedding :: Lauren+Geoff
Lauren and Geoff’s Westland Distillery Wedding in the late fall of 2016 was maybe my favorite wedding of the year. I know I say that about all of my weddings. But there was something incredibly special about their wedding day. Lauren and Geoff brought in so many important, personal details to every portion of the day. You couldn’t help but be touched.
We started out the wedding day photography coverage at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Seattle. This hotel is down near Pioneer Square and is really quite lovely. A couple of the particularly fun details stood out to me. First, Lauren’s bouquet, made with silk flowers in her jewel tones for the day. Lauren’s brother had passed away some years back. And she wanted to pay tribute to him. So she wrapped the bouquet in one of his suit ties. You will see later that Geoff’s pocket square is also made from one of Lauren’s brother’s ties.
Second was her stunning dress. It really “fit” Lauren’s style. And it had pockets!! If you can get a wedding dress with pockets I highly suggest that you do.
Once Lauren was dressed in her dress and all of her hair and makeup was done, we headed downstairs for the First Look. Geoff was waiting on the marble staircase at the hotel. This was the one spot Lauren had her heart set on having their First Look. And it worked out great.
After some portraits inside and outside of the hotel, we all traveled down to Westland Distillery to get ready for the ceremony and reception. We took some bridal party photos and family photos before the ceremony to get them checked off the list. I really love how the family photos turned out. Who would know that we are just on the sidewalk on 1st Avenue in Seattle?
Westland Distillery Wedding Ceremony of Lauren & Geoff
Lauren and Geoff’s ceremony was amazing. It was intimate and very personal. Sitting off to the side were two special chairs. They each belonged to Lauren and Geoff’s grandfathers, who have both passed away. My favorite part of the ceremony was when their friend played “In My Life” (Beatles) on the guitar. One of the many times I shed tears that day.
Following their ceremony, their wedding guests enjoyed a cocktail hour complete with a tasting of Westland Distillery’s award winning whiskey. And then gathered in the barrel room for dinner and toasts.
The evening wrapped up with Lauren and Geoff cutting their wedding cake and having their first dance with each other as husband and wife. And of course all of their guests enjoyed dancing the night away.
Lauren and Geoff have a special connection that I cannot describe. They are deeply in tune with each other. And they understand each other in a way I cannot describe. Watching them together on their wedding day made my heart sing. It made me feel deeply honored to be their wedding photographer.
I wish you, Lauren and Geoff, a beautiful life together! From the bottom of my heart.
