Top 10 List – Favorite Movies

Admittedly, I’m a huge movie snob. I don’t like many movies. There’s usually something wrong with them. Too much sci-fi, too many costumes, bad acting, horrible adaptation of the book, anything having to do with Clint Eastwood. The list goes on and on. But the movies I like, I REALLY like. Here is a list of my top 10:

The Thorn Birds – I watched this mini-series in the 80s when I was in my pre-teens and it stuck with me. I can spend a whole day snuggled in watching Meggie and Ralph and their scandalous love affair.

Notting Hill – Such a cute and quirky romantic comedy. Hugh Grant is such a doll. I can watch this over and over.

Shawshank Redemption – The first time I watched this movie, I did not see “it” coming. I was as shocked as the prison warden. So well done and I just adore almost anything with Morgan Freeman.

Meet the Robinsons – Shut the front door! This movie blew me away. For most of the movie, I sat and made faces at my friend wondering what in the heck was going on. It was madness and nothing made sense. Until the end. I weep like a baby every time and I love the message of this movie. Keep Moving Forward!

Garden State – Sigh. Love. Love. Love. Can’t get enough.

The Hangover – Funniest movie. So many great lines.

Shakespeare in Love – I admit I was irate when this movie won Best Picture, even though I hadn’t seen it. When I finally did see it, I took back all my angry words. Definitely deserved it. So creative and well done.

Ocean’s 11 – Who is cooler than these guys. I love a heist movie. This one is my favorite.

Heat – Literally, a sit on the edge of your seat, action-packed movie. I think I was holding my breath for the last half of the movie. De Niro and Pacino are perfect.

Silence of the Lambs – Scariest movie I have ever seen. Saw this in college and just kept begging my boyfriend to leave the theater. Then had him come to my dorm room every day for 2 weeks to check the closets and under the bed for me. At the time I worked at the University of Washington Law Library and Ted Bundy studied there. It was a bit creepy.

Runners Up:
Meet the Parents
The American President
Forrest Gump

While these are the movies I came up with for my Top 10 List, I totally reserve the right to change or amend the list at any time (in case I remember another movie I liked even better). Just wait until you see my Worst Movies List (spoiler: there are more than 10 movies on it).
