Dragonfly Retreat Wedding Photography :: Josie+Oren

Josie+Oren’s Dragonfly Retreat Wedding was simply gorgeous. I was the 2nd photographer for Joanna Monger Photography for this wedding. I can’t even tell you how happy I was to be there for this one.

First of all, I didn’t even know that Dragonfly Retreat existed. It’s right here in Bothell, only 7 minutes from my house. Dragonfly Retreat is nestled in a residential neighborhood, you wouldn’t even know it was there. Secluded and beautiful. Dragonfly Retreat has tons of wonderful features. An enormous lawn, with a large metal arch that leads to a more secluded ceremony area. The venue is surrounded by trees and feels very personal and cozy.

There are tons of little foresty areas around the property and, my favorite, a trail that leads down to the creek bed where Josie+Oren had their First Look. Additionally there is a large house where the owner lives. The house includes a lovely downstairs space for receptions or “backup” space and a HUGE outdoor patio for receptions. Additionally, there is an adorable small house with a loft that is perfect for a bride getting ready room. I just love this venue.

Josie+Oren had a First Look in the forest that somehow seemed exactly them. They are a lovely couple who are fun and loving. They both have a deep sense for nature, adventure and their love for each other (that is a lot of love).

Josie+Oren’s Wedding Ceremony

Following the First Look and formal portraits, their ceremony began. Josie was escorted by her father and Oren by his mother. They met under the arch, joined arms and walked down the aisle together. I loved it! But I think my favorite part of their very sincere, special ceremony was the ring passing. They placed their wedding rings in a box and they asked guests to pass the rings around. Guests were asked to look at the rings, say a prayer, a blessing, make a wish, bestow love, whatever their heart desired. It was incredibly moving to see their friends and family taking great care with their rings and actively participating in the wedding ceremony.

Following their ceremony, all of the guests gathered for their gorgeous reception. Tables were decorated with lanterns, bright flowers and photos of Josie+Oren. These photos were various trips and adventures they went on together. Guest favors also adorned the table, candles, soap and flower seeds. After dinner and toasts, the dance floor lit up to Oren’s special mix of tunes. Then they danced the night away.

Thank you so much to Joanna Monger Photography for including me to 2nd shoot this wedding. And thanks to Josie+Oren for allowing me to participate in their wedding day. It was incredibly special.
